Boycott Real's Ballon d'Or ceremony

Real Madrid have announced they will boycott the Ballon d'Or ceremony in Paris. The Spanish club have confirmed their forward Vinicius Junior will not win the boys' Ballon d'Or, despite being the bookies' favourite. The Ballon d'Or ceremony will start tonight at 1 pm Bangladesh time at the Theater du Chatelet in Paris.

The club told news agency AFP they questioned the process of selecting the Ballon d'Or winner. Real defender Dani Carvajal, who was shortlisted for the Individual Player of the Year award, was also considered unfairly excluded by the club.

Carbahal, now sidelined with an ACL injury, scored in the Champions League final at Wembley last June. Vinicius scored the other goal in Real's 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund. The boys' Ballon d'Or winners are chosen by a vote of journalists from the top 100 countries in the FIFA rankings.

Real Madrid told AFP: 'If Vinicius is not chosen as the winner based on the criteria used to award the award, then Carbahal should be identified as the winner by the same criteria. Since nothing happened, it is clear that the Ballon d'Or-UEFA does not respect Real Madrid. And where there is no respect, Real Madrid does not go there.'

The Ballon d'Or awards are organized by the French magazine 'France Football.' This time the authorities of the award have kept the name of the winner secret until the very last moment. This arrangement is for the winner's name not to be leaked in the media beforehand. 30 shortlisted players have also been invited to the event. Earlier, the name of the winner was known a few days before the award.

So, not Vinicius, Rodri is getting the Ballon d'Or

In response to Real's Ballon d'Or boycott, the event's organizers said that 'no player or club knows in advance' who will win the award. "All clubs and players are in the same situation (unknown to everyone)," a Ballon d'Or source told AFP.

The absence of Real players means that Vinicius, Jude Bellingham or Carbahl are not getting the Ballon d'Or trophy this time. In this, Rodri, who won the Euro for Spain and the Premier League for Manchester City, brightened the chances of winning the Ballon d'Or this year.
